Summer Evening in Webster is a long running concert series held each Sunday evening during the month of July.  It began in 1981 under the sponsorship of the Webster Historical Society and organized largely by Webster resident and unofficial historian, Joe Rhinehart.  Joe said Professor Robert Lee Madison (founder of Western Carolina University and also a Webster resident) was the inspiration for the concerts.  On summer evenings Prof. Madison would play violin on his front porch while his wife would play piano inside the house with the window open.  People would stop by to listen.  This summer the series continues.  The public is invited to attend the free concerts which take place at the historic Webster United Methodist Church. Concerts begin at 6:00 with a reception afterward.
